Meet The Owners

Barbara and Rudi Nussbaumer are not what you would classify as a typical hotelier family. Indeed prior to this they had no past experience in the Hospitality Industry whatsoever. In fact Barbara used to work as a secretary and Rudi was a broker and a Real Estate Agent.

But driven through their passion for good food, good wine and the desire to create something extraordinary for vacationers, they decided to take this plunge. The passion did not just stop there but soon became a vision. A vision which beholds something unique, not just the run of the mill but something beyond that, something special. And the vision turned into a challenge. It started last Fall with the acquisition of the property where “Gut-Pichlhof” is located and all through the different phases of renovation it went through. It is manifested in the small small details, in the architecture and indeed in the whole concept behind it. The concept of a holiday domicile, to give the guests a feeling of laid back, especially in today’s fast paced life. For the owners this is a dream come true.

Barbara and Rudi Nussbaumer have three children Michael and the twins Christine and Sandro.

Another person who shared this dream with Barbara and Rudi Nussbaumer is an old friend of the family by the name of Franz Altenberger. A man well known in the local recreational scenery.

Franz Altenberger originates from an old and traditional farmers family in Mittersill and likewise can not make any claims towards hospitality industry. In fact in his younger years he used to be a professional electrician working for such reputed companies like VOEST and UNIVERSALE BAU. After a successful - though at times lonely - career, working on contracts spread over many continents, he decided to get back to the roots and concentrate on some gastronomical ventures in and around his birth place. 

Thus afflicted, he joined forces with the Nussbaumers to help materialize their dream and this soon became his most ambitious, prestigious and the biggest task and project he had ever worked on - the “Gut-Pichlhof”. It is his goal and ambition to make this masterpiece of Nature & Style into the Hottest Spot in the “Europa Sportregion”. Franz is accompanied by his fiancée Sonja, many a year by his side, through life. At present she prefers to lead an introspective life of a pharmacist.
